Nathan had his central line removed today!
A central line is a long, thin tube that feeds into a vein close to the heart. Nathan's central line was used it to supplement his nutritional needs with liquid food (aka, TPN). He was not eating enough to grow.
The removal of the central line means that, for the first time since birth, neither Nathan nor Charlie have any medical devices attached to them. 470 days later.
It will take a few days for the wound to heal, but then it is all systems go. The first thing we are going to do is take the boys for a swim in Skaneateles Lake. Next up, a real bath. Nathan can't wait and neither can Lori and I.
By the way, Nathan is eating like a champ now!
